Mark Jewell

Founder and Managing Director

Mark Jewell is one of Australia’s most experienced and respected property industry directors. Over his career, he has held a number of senior executive positions and directorships in ASX listed Australian property development companies.

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa, he emigrated with his young family to Australia in 1988. After 8 years at PRD Realty head office, he joined the fledgling Sunland Group as General Manager and Executive Director in 1996.

During his 10 years with Sunland, Mark played a pivotal role in the growth of the company to the highly successful, ASX listed group that it is today. He was actively involved in a number of iconic developments on the Gold Coast including Q1 Resort and Palazzo Versace. Sunland also undertook numerous land and townhouse developments in South East Queensland, Sydney and Melbourne.

Mark then joined the ASX listed FKP Group in 2011 as an Executive Director and CEO of its development arm, where he was responsible for a number of high- profile developments including the Gasworks shopping and office precinct and the Rochedale Estates in Brisbane.

In 2013, he was appointed a Director of VillaWorld Limited and shortly thereafter as Chairman. Mark spent almost 6 years as Chairman of VillaWorld – one of Queensland’s largest and oldest residential land and housing developers, with a turnover in excess of $400 million per annum – until the successful sale of the company to Avid Property Group in 2019.

VillaWorld’s expertise lay in residential land subdivisions and homes within the affordable to mid-priced residential housing and land market, with notable South East Queensland developments including Arundel Springs on the Gold Coast, the 1,500 lot Covella subdivision at Greenbank and the 700 Lot subdivision, Killara, at Logan Reserve.

Following the sale of VillaWorld, Mark retired as Chairman and is now focusing on growing the City Plan Group.

Wayne Jewell

Development and Acquisitions Manager

Wayne Jewell is an experienced business professional, successful small business owner and IT specialist. Wayne has vast experience delivering large scale IT and Telecommunications projects to enterprise and government through a career with Telstra and Hewlett Packard.

Over the last 10 years, Wayne first founded and then managed a successful IT business in Canberra before the business was sold.

Having returned to the Gold Coast with his young family, Wayne is now fulfilling a long held dream to work in the development industry. His experience and skills in business development and project delivery have transferred seamlessly and he looks forward to working under the tutelage of Mark at City Plan Developments.
